Travel plans resume as scheduled

The past two days have been very difficult as we have not known for sure how the civil unrest in Ethiopia will affect our travel plans. Just moments ago we received an email from our agency indicating that barring another incident of violence, we can plan on traveling on June 22nd.

This is an excerpt from the email we received:

“I am very glad to tell you that the situation appears to have calmed down considerably in Ethiopia. While most shops remained closed today and taxi drivers stayed off the streets for a second day, on-strike against the government's response to the political opposition's protests, no additional deaths or violence has been reported. According to our staff in Ethiopia, it is also true that police and military presence in the streets is ubiquitous. Life and work for the children and staff at our care center/guest house in Addis Ababa is going on as usual. To date, three families' travel has been postponed due to the security situation. We are confident that the opportunity for staff and families to resume their travel plans to Ethiopia will be available within a week to ten days, barring another incident of violence and/or widespread unrest in Addis Ababa.”
