Alex's First Haircut

After nearly a year of trying to comb through Alex's hair, it was time to take it off.... This was a very difficult decision for me as I LOVE his hair. I knew once he had the "big-boy" haircut he'd definitely be past the baby stage. As summer was in full-swing and he was needing baths more often, it became difficult to comb through his hair that many times during the week. AND, he thought it was funny to put food on top of his head and have it stay there. So, Grant and I made the decision to cut it but we didn't know where we were going to go to do that. On Monday, I was running at Lake Calhoun and I passed a woman (Helen) pushing a double stroller with two boys in it who had very short hair. I stopped to ask her where she gets her boys hair cut and she talked me into going to her house for me to learn how to cut Alex's hair with a clipper. So, this morning we met for a walk and then went to her home (Grant met us there) and we took the clippers to Alex's head. Alex was a great sport and I think I'll be able to keep it short through the summer! I may have to grow it out again this winter....we'll see.

Before (Helen combed his hair out first and put detangler in it so it wouldn't catch on the clipper)

After (Grant took other photos of just Alex, but it is difficult to get a good picture of a moving target!)
